3 things that inspires me about Sachin!!

"Life is short. Live your own life. Dream big"- this has been a line which has inspired almost everyone out there. But sadly only few people achieve this height. Sachin Tendulkar being one of these great personality, has inspired me in a thousand way. Time, being a factor will try to discuss just three of them.

"Live life my way" has been the first and foremost thing Sachin has truly inspired me about. I have always wanted to become an entrepreneur.Rather a successful one. Curbing out the hardships and reaching the destination has been, in true sense a part of inspiration from Sachin.

Second thing that has been an important of all the thousand inspirations, is love the work you do. As long we love our work, it wont be called a 'work'.And eventually we will reach the top before we even know we did! Thats a very important thing to learn from Sachin.

And last but not the least, Mr.Rishi Piparaiya just showed us a bat signed personally by Sachin. Funny it may seem but it has definitely inspired me to wrap this short but robust collection of lines! And believe me, I just loved it! Refer to the 3rd paragraph for more ;)

Thank You

Thot u won't ever ask!!!

You hate even your favorite tune when its rings at 7 am in the morning and forces you to wake up. The same happened when I had to wake up just like any other day and swim alone in the ocean of people. The new city, the roads, the crowds were no less than a horror movie. The  idea of going to college alone, talking to a stranger used to haunt me every single moment. I already had booked a seat at the last row and used to play with my loneliness while sometimes pretending to listen to the lectures.
It was the 5th day, when I ran into a girl in my class. Actually, I did not run into! Just saw her in the midst of 60 other complete strangers. For the first time, I wished to talk to a stranger. But HOW? 'Dr.Gut' still did not approve my application! Well, you always have a choice. As I am doing now, I did the same. I wrote what I had to say. Not to everyone this time. Just her! “Hello” was the only thing I wrote on a paper and passed onto her desk. I was shit scared of what was going to come from her side. But even more, when she seemed to ignore the fact that just happened. She did not reply! L
“Can I sit here?”- I heard a voice behind me the next day. It was her! Before I could say something, she considered the answer to be ‘yes’ and sat beside me. Believe me, I did not panic this much even on the day of my boards! Few minutes had already passed, I could not even look at her for once. Suddenly she passed a piece of paper onto me. Unfolding it displayed the words “Hi…I am Akansha”. It was a bolt from the blue. Fumbling upon what to do. I decided to write again. Flipped the paper, wrote “Hey…I am Anupam” – passed it to her. And thereafter the introduction session was totally paper-based.
Went back to my place. I was already in la-la land! More to it was a friend request from her when I logged into my Facebook. We are always delighted to see a friend request rather than a notification! Isn’t that so? So that was the beginning of the ‘iBT’- internet based texting!

Akansha : Hey there! See you at college 2morow!

Me: Cya too! Gnyt. J

I went on to visit her profile like an F.B.I officer and kept on checking her pictures and fantasizing about the same. Yes! I did. Flipping through her pictures, I saw her with a guy. Not only one but 5-6 pictures of the same guy posing with her. Well, the night had passed. The next day was Sunday. I had planned to sleep for at least 12 hours. But could not. Her Facebook text flashed on my cellphone. I woke up. Sipping on a cup of tea, I replied “hey..Good morning! “
Akansha : Hey, good mrng! How are u doing?

Me : Going good.

Akansha : Wanna meet my frnz today? We r goin to hangout at the park.

Me(again fumbling to decide): ummm….ya sure! Y not.

Akansha : Cool! Meet me at the park by the college by 5pm.

Like a good boy, I reached on time! She introduced me to all her buddies. And finally came a guy. It was the same guy I saw her in the pictures last night. She screamed at him “why are you so late?”. The guy replied “Oh sorry baby. You know how the city jam is” She introduced me to the guy. “He is Ishaan. My closest buddy”. ‘Buddy?’- I uttered aloud in my mind. Girls generally use ‘buddy’  to play on the safe side! My heart was already half-broken! The only thing that revolved around my head was “what actually is the relationship between the 2 guys? “. Days passed but I couldn't muster up the courage to ask her the question.
It was the final day of the internal exam week. That evening she pinged me and said “ hey u know, Ishaan is throwin us a party tonyt! He wants to share somethin special with me!”. Oh no man! It can’t be! I said to myself out of complete dejection. How come a ‘buddy’ he is?

Akansha : U wanna join us?

Me : ummm..actually I had a few works to complete. I am sorry! :L

Akansha : okz! No worries. Cya later then!

Me : Sure. Gnyt!

The next day she did not come to college. I could not wonder what had happened! I pinged her from my cellphone. “Why dint u come to college today?”.

Akansha : Actually am too tired of last nyt’s party!

Me : Okay! How was it btw?

Akansha : Oh Man! It was too good. Guess what happened?

“Obviously your ‘closest buddy’ shared ‘something special’ with you”- I snarled at her in my mind.

Me : What?

Akansha : Ishaan introduced me to his girlfriend!

Whaaat??? I mean..seriously?? My lips had already taken a fine curve. Now, I felt like a Superman, gathered all courage and asked her- “Can I ask u out tonight? “. She did not reply for an hour. From Superman, I again returned to my normal being! She did not reply that night. I re-pinged but no answer came from her side. I could not sleep that night. Went to college the next day hoping everything to be alright.  She came out of nowhere and called me from behind my back. I turned around. She was looking at me with an angry face just about to burst! “Check your Facebook”- her not-very-usual voice traversed my ears. I wasn’t even aware of the fact that my phone beeped! I opened my Facebook. What she texted was  a happy accident for me. She wrote-

                                                             “ I thot U wont ever ask!!! J

Laidback Jack

Today most of us believe in being a lazy bone and carry a 'do nothing' attitude! I myself, being a part of this evolutionary trend do nothing but watch television, surf the internet, and fiddle with my cellphone and the Xbox. Few weeks back some of my close mates came over to my place. It is indeed a rejoice to see your buddies after a long time since you left them at the final year of your college. We had beers to our heart's content. And here's what I penned eventually..my first poetry.

It was life in school
Where study was the golden rule
But they never tried
To know the real McCoy
All I wanna say is
All Work and No Play makes Jack a dull boy

But hey, who cares now
Coz it feels good to disavow
Doze off at 3, wake up at 10
Play Max Payne and do it again
Coz
All Work and No Play makes Jack a dull boy

Fogs around me everywhere
Nose flooded by bitter stench
“A bone to pick”, I barely care
Only a bad egg in need of a chunk o’ change

But still I love the cloy
Coz
All Work and No Play makes Jack a dull boy

And the best part is that one of my school friend, who plays in a band named Nakshatra found it very interesting to compose a song out of this lyrics. Soon they will be releasing the same! I'm really looking forward to it. Hope it does well :)

Perfectly Average!!

When I come across names of great personalities viz. Sachin Tendulkar, Ustaad Zakir Hussain, quite often I tell myself "What did I do special in my life? Why cant I be a person, who is an icon for the country?" As the fire of motivation is just about to ignite..I end up saying myself that I ain't worth it or its too late to do something at this age. Recently I saw a movie "Ek main aur ek Tuu". I know most of you have seen this before. You must be thinking why haven't I seen this before. I am not a Hindi movie buff. But still manage to see a few good ones. This wasn't such a great movie but while watching it, I came across a phrase "perfectly average" which really touched me.

Why do we always have to copy or follow someone? Why can't we trust our in-built talents? I mean, yes Sachin Tendulkar is a great cricketer. There is no harm in accepting him as your role model. But why become a batsman AFTER watching him? Instead, we should follow the path of hard-work and determination he carried all through the journey of his career. I personally follow SRK as my role model. But I never crave to be an actor like him. We all are gifted somehow. Just think, most of us can do a lot of good things like we can play, we can write well, we can paint, we can sing, and many more! Can Sachin Tendulkar or Shahrukh Khan do all these things in a single day? That is where our talent lies. We are perfectly average! We need to nurture these latent talents. We should not stop looking for and working on things that we like. And someday we will definitely find something that can take us to heights.

Dare to Dream!

"Do as we say..your parents are never wrong. You must get a good job and BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!"- We must be quite familiar with this kinda lines said by our parents. In India doing anything else other than getting a job, rather a GOOD job, is considered an act of transgression. We are not allowed to do anything without the permission of our parents and other elders. We are not allowed to chase our dreams. We are bounded by the chains of the derogatory society. A guy yearning to open his new company out of scratch is abstained from doing so. He is being given a pessimistic viewpoint by his guardians and thus, finally he succeeds in getting over his dream and his parents r happy! Does this end here? No! The same guy, even after getting a good job, laments over his decision or I must say his parents decision.

Two third of Indian population is under 35. Still no one is determined enough not to give a damn about what others say and chase their own dream, live a life they dreamed about while reading stories on names like Tata, Ambani, Premji, Murthy etc. In other way, where India is fighting with the menaces of unemployment, why not create jobs for those unemployed lots? Even the competition is less in this field. We can do better in this than being in a job where thousands work for the same post that we are in. Imagine if Narayan Murthy had not co-founded Infosys, who would have given jobs to the "Currently Working at Infosys" guys?

The good news is that there are quite a few entrepreneurial organisations providing platforms for young entrepreneurs to hone their skills and help them build their start-ups by providing the initial funding. And even few communities to support the cause! I, who want to be an entrepreneur someday would urge every guy and girl out there to chase their dreams, to become an Ambani someday, to live their own lives and not others'. Be an example friends so that someday I end up writing about YOU in my blog.

Thanks for reading! Cheerio! :)
